- He may be only 40, but Arthur Ochs Sulzberger Jr. already
- has all the qualifications to be publisher of the New York
- Times: 13 years at the paper as reporter, corporate planner,
- deputy publisher -- and the fact that three generations of his
- family had the job before him. Last week Arthur the Elder, known
- as "Punch," passed the scepter to his son, who does not like to
- be known as "Pinch" ("Nobody uses it to my face twice"). The new
- publisher, who has a casual style and humor, will still report
- to Dad, head of the paper's parent company.
